I used the money that I saved to travel and pursue my goal of getting myself out there. Within the past year, I flew to North Carolina on a propeller plane for a Phi Kappa Sigma conference and spent a week getting to know my fraternity brothers from other colleges across the country. A Lot Can Happen in 365 Days When I was a kid, I always imagined my future as a certain genius billionaire playboy philanthropist. But kid me didnt worry too much about making any of that happen because it was something that future me would handle. Now, I realize that these are the days when we become the kind of person were going to be for the next stage of our lives. I felt like I wasnt getting out of campus enough. I knew I wanted to start a company, but I didnt know what venture capital was or what the startup landscape looked like. For 2016, I wanted to really push for change. I decided I wanted to put myself out there and meet as many people and expose myself to as many opportunities as possible. I switched to the free food diet, where I would get most of my meals from networking events with free food (a well-balanced diet if you know where to look). I used the money that I saved to travel and pursue my goal of getting myself out there. Within the past year, I flew to North Carolina on a propeller plane for a Phi Kappa Sigma conference and spent a week getting to know my fraternity brothers from other colleges across the country. Within the past year, I entered the startup accelerator StartMIT with my roommate. I got to have lunch with famous people without knowing they were famous, like Robert Metcalfe, who co-invented Ethernet and formulated Metcalfes Law. Our idea ended up failing, but it was still my first real foray into entrepreneurship. Within the past year, I started going out to more events. First the Harvard Career Fair, then the MIT Virtual Reality Conference, then the Artificial Intelligence Conference, then smaller panels, talks and hackathons. Then TechCrunch Disrupt, the Intercollegiate Pitch Off, Next Gen Summit, TEDxBeaconStreet, and the Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit. Some I snuck into because I couldnt afford $2,000 tickets, some I got a press badge for, and some I got invited to. I had no idea any of these existed last year. Within the past year, I joined the MIT $100K Competition as an organizer. Together, we grew the competition to provide more startups with the capital and mentorship they need to succeed and focused on getting the entire MIT community involved. At our grand finale in May, our CFO Sang-Hyuk Kwon snapped this amazing photo. Within the past year, I got to go to both MITs Yule Ball and Wellesleys Yule Ball without knowing why they were called Yule Balls. Why are they called Yule Balls? (kidding, I know why) Within the past year, StartMIT took a group of us MIT student entrepreneurs to San Francisco during spring break. It was my first time on the West Coast. We also went to Silicon Valley and visited Facebook, Andreesen Horowitz, Sand Hill Road, and more. Within the past year, I demoed the Makey Makey on stage in front of hundreds of kids during Super Science Saturday. I forgot the USB cable to plug the device into the computer. It was extremely embarrassing, but I didnt break my composure and the kids still enjoyed the presentation. Within the past year, my friends and I snuck into a Steve Aoki concert, and I high-fived Steve Aoki after he threw a birthday cake at my face. Ive been going to concerts nonstop since. We saw Lady Gaga and Lenny Kravitz live at the DNC after a governor in a hotel lobby gave us tickets to the show.  We also saw Jason Derulo perform at the Forbes Under 30 Summit.   Within the past year, my second little brother graduated middle school and my littlest brother graduated elementary school. Within the past year, my brothers and I traveled to Costa Rica as a vacation and to be with our grandparents. While there, we visited Ad Astra Rocket Company, started by Costa Rican and MIT alum Franklin Chang-Diaz. He was one of my inspirations for wanting to go to MIT.   Within the past year, two of my friends and I traveled to Philly to give a talk to a high school entrepreneurship program called Endevvr about crowdfunding. We met one of the organizers at the Next Gen Summit and he loved our crowdfunding campaign where we raised money to feed the homeless the week before Thanksgiving. Within the past year, I volunteered for a freshman pre-orientation program to acquaint the incoming MIT freshmen with entrepreneurship resources. I shared with them everything that I learned so far. Within the past year, I celebrated my 21st birthday with birthday parties in four different states. Friday in Philly, Monday in New York, Tuesday in New Jersey, and Friday again in Boston. Within the past year, my family got a pug (my first dog!). He thinks Im a stranger who only comes during the holidays. When I visit, he protects my family from me. He wears a coat when its cold. Within the past year, my friends and I have started hosting our own entrepreneurship events around Boston. Weve thrown dinners, networking events, and even conference after-parties to bring people together for good conversations Within the past year, we gained 14 awesome new brothers for our fraternity. Ive had a blast having them around and I wish I could stay longer.   Within the past year, Ive met so many new friends. A lot of ups, but Within the past year, I switched my major from electrical engineering and computer science to just computer science to management back to computer science then back to management. I filled out and signed the transfer papers each time. Within the past year, it got a lot harder to balance class work with being out there doing these kinds of projects. But I continue persevering. Ive never got a grade as high as a B during MIT. But after studying for the whole week, I finally got my first B on an MIT final. Within the past year, I was rejected from my dream job and now must rethink what I want to do after graduating. But I have some of the best mentors to guide me, like professors from the Media Lab, MIT alumni who have started their own companies, and the staff in the Course 15 department. 2016 flew by, but when you break it down month by month, it really stretches out the year.  I took a trip down memory lane and reflected on what Ive done. Suddenly it feels like 2016 was a lifetime. Not everything went my way. I did have a lot of hardships in both the school of MIT and the school of life. But I never stopped moving forward. Thats how winning is done (paraphrasing Rocky). Id like to leave you with my new favorite quote and mantra for 2017. It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat. Financial institutions (banks and other lending companies) use them to decide whether to grant a company with fresh working capital or extend debt securities (such as a long-term bank loan or debentures) to finance expansion and other significant expenditures. Government entities (Tax Authorities) need financial statements to ascertain the propriety and accuracy of taxes and other duties declared and paid by a company. The statements of two or more periods are prepared to show absolute data of two or more years, increases or decreases in absolute data in value and in terms of percentages. The two comparative statements are: Comparative Balance Sheet: the comparative balance sheet analysis is the study of the trend of the same items, group of items and computed items in two or more balance sheets of the same business enterprise on different dates. Comparative Income Statement: the comparative income statement gives the results of the operations of a business. It gives an idea of the progress of a business over a period of time. 2.7.2 Trend percentage analysis Trend analysis is an important tool of horizontal financial analysis. This analysis enables to know the changes in the financial function and operating efficiency between the time period chosen. By studying the trends of each item we can know the direction of changes and based upon the direction of changes, the opinions can be formed. These trend ratios may be compared with industry in order to know the strong or weak points of a concern. 2.7.3 Common size statement Common size financial statements are those in which figures reported are converted to some common base. Vertical analysis is required for an interpretation of underlying causes of changes over a period of time. For this, items in the financial statements are presented as percentages or ratios to total of the items and a common base for comparison is provided. Common size statements may be used for Common Size Balance Sheet: a statement in which balance sheet items are expressed as the ratio of each asset to total assets and the ratio of each liability is expressed as a ratio of total liabilities. Common Size Income Statement: the items in income statement can be shown as percentages of sales to show the relation of each item to sales. A significant relationship can be established. 2.7.4 Funds Flow Statement (or Analysis) This statement is prepared in order to reveal clearly the various sources where from the funds are procured to finance the activities of a business concern during the accounting period and also brings to highlight the uses to which these funds are put during the said period. 2.7.5 Cash Flow Statement (or Analysis) This statement is prepared to know clearly the various items of inflow and outflow of cash. It is an essential tool for short-term financial analysis and is very helpful in the evaluation of current liquidity of a business concern. It helps the business executives of a business in the efficient cash management and internal financial management. 2.7.6 Statement of Changes in Working Capital (Net Working Capital Analysis) This statement is prepared to know the net change in working capital of the business between two specified dates. It is prepared from current assets and current liabilities of the said dates to show the net increase or decrease in working capital. 2.7.7 Ratio Analysis It is done to develop meaningful relationship between individual items or group of items usually shown in the periodical financial statements published by the concern. An accounting ratio shows the relationship between the two inter-related accounting figures as gross profit to sales, current assets to current liabilities, loaned capital to owned capital etc. Ratios should not be calculated between the two unrelated figures as it will not serve any useful purpose. According to K. Shastry (1995), a powerful tool for assessments and evaluation of business enterprises is Financial Ratio Analysis. He defines financial ratio analysis as the systematic presentation of ratios, both from the internal and external financial reports, so as to summarize key relationships and results in order to appraise financial performance of the company. 2.7.8 Du Pont Analysis ROI indicates the efficiency of the concern which depends upon the working operations of the concern. Net Profit Ratio and Capital Turnover Ratio, as often called is usually computed on the basis of the chart represented by DU Pont. Thus it is known as DU Pont Chart. This system of control was applied for the first time by DU Pont Company of the United States of America. The DU Pont chart helps to the management to identify the areas of problems for the variations in the return on investment so that actions may initiated to improve the performance. The following chart can explain the ROI effect by a number of factors. Limitation of Financial Analysis Though analysis of financial statement is essential to obtain relevant information for making several decisions and formulating corporate plans and policies, it should be carefully performed as it suffers from a number of the following limitations: Mislead the users:- The accuracy of financial information largely depends on how accurately financial statements are prepared. If their preparation is wrong, the information obtained from their analysis will also be wrong which may mislead the user in making decisions. Not useful for planning:- Since financial statements are prepared by using historical financial data, therefore, the information derived from such statements may not be effective in corporate planning, if the previous situation does not prevail. Qualitative aspects:- Then financial statement analysis provides only quantitative information about the companys financial affairs. However, it fails to provide qualitative information such as management labor relation, customers satisfaction, and management skills and so on which are also equally important for decision making. Comparison not possible:- The financial statements are based on historical data. Therefore comparative analysis of financial statements of different years cannot be done as inflation distorts the view presented by the statements of different years. Wrong judgement:- The skills used in the analysis without adequate knowledge of the subject matter may lead to negative direction. Similarly, biased attitude of the analyst may also lead to wrong judgement and conclusion. Not helpful in price fixation:- In financial accounting the cost is not available as an aid in determining prices of the product services production order and product line. Not control on cost:- It does not provide for a proper control of materials and suppliers, wages. Labors and overheads. No analysis of losses:- It does not provided the complete analysis of losses due to defective material, idle time, plant and equipment. In other words no distinction is made between avoidable and unavoidable wastage.

Es por esta razà ³n que es muy conveniente contar con la asesorà ­a de una persona honesta, trabajadora y que sepa de quà © habla. Es fundamental entender la diferencia entre quià ©nes son los abogados, los representantes acreditados, los consultores y los notarios y saber quà © puede legalmente hacer cada uno de ellos en asuntos migratorios. Abogados migratorios para asesorar en asuntos migratorios Los abogados obviamente pueden dar consejo legal y tambià ©n representar los inmigrantes en las Cortes de Inmigracià ³n.   El paso natural cuando se necesita consejo legal es contratar a un letrado. Para  elegir abogado  es fundamental contar con referencias positivas de clientes actuales o antiguos. Sin embargo, son relativamente frecuentes los casos de malaprà ¡ctica y negligencia. Otras personas autorizadas para asesorar legalmente Ademà ¡s, està ¡n autorizados para esas labores las organizaciones reconocidas como tales y los proveedores de asistencia legal gratuita. Asimismo, pueden representar a los inmigrantes otros representantes cualificados como estudiantes o licenciados en Derecho que todavà ­a no han aprobado el examen de ingreso al Bar pero que trabajan bajo la supervisià ³n de un abogado. Tambià ©n pueden hacerlo los oficiales del gobierno, como por ejemplo los agentes consulares y las personas como sacerdotes, vecinos, familiares del inmigrante y que sean de buen carà ¡cter moral y que no cobren ni directa ni indirectamente por estos servicios. Sin embargo, los que no està ¡n autorizados a ejercer esa representacià ³n son los notarios o los consultores de inmigracià ³n. Different Viewpoints on Human Nature Throughout history there have been arguments about anything and everything that is disagreeable. People innately have there own and often different opinions. A prominent discussion topic throughout history has been the nature of mankind. Many have written works about human nature but few are discussed in greater detail than Candide, The Prince, and Essay on Man. Voltaire, Niccolo Machiavelli, and Alexander Pope, who wrote these three works respectively, concur with each other on many view points. But it is their differences that make the works unique. Another difference between Voltaire and the others is his sarcasm. Candide translated into English means optimism. In this work, Voltaire was not saying that people are good. The Prince, written in 1513 by Niccolo Machiavelli, is an essay about how to rule a state and keep its adjuncts content. Whether it be a princedom, a republic or a mixture of the two.
